About
Welcome to Oakway Infant School. I am Mrs Cheryl Buckle, the Head Teacher for the Infant School and Children’s Centre. I hope you will find our site full of useful information. Please contact us if there is anything else you would like to know.
Our aim at Oakway is to provide the children with a curriculum that is relevant, interesting and exciting.
We focus on the basic skills of reading, writing, maths and ICT skills to ensure the children have good foundations which they can build on later.
We enrich the subjects by teaching key skills through topics that the children enjoy and often choose for themselves.
We aim to give the children a range of experiences so they have a love of learning for life.
Children are expected to behave in an appropriate manner during all school activities. We pride ourselves in having a school of polite and well-behaved children and follow a positive
behaviour policy to ensure this. We try to avoid raised voices and conflict and make sure we reward good behaviour. Children work hard towards achieving personal stamp cards and points for their team. Children are rewarded with certificates when they complete their stamp card. Lunchtime supervisors reward good behaviour at lunchtime. We also hold a weekly assembly to celebrate children who are working hard and behaving well.
If a child chooses to break a school rule they will face a consequence for their actions. You will be informed of the rule-break and consequence. If your child needs additional support to improve their behaviour you will be invited to come in to school to discuss this.
